14. Validator Services - Crypto Specific Terms
14.1 Staking and Delegation Services
When you delegate tokens to J•Node validators, you acknowledge that:
- Non-Custodial Service: We never have custody or control of your tokens. Tokens remain in your wallet under your control.
- Delegation Risks: Staking involves inherent risks including potential loss through slashing events.
- Unbonding Period: Each network has specific unbonding periods (typically 14-28 days) during which tokens cannot be accessed.
- Minimum Delegation: Some networks require minimum delegation amounts as specified in network documentation.
14.2 Slashing Protection & Compensation Policy
J•Node Slashing Protection Guarantee
We maintain enterprise-grade infrastructure and offer the following protection:
Slashing Events Coverage:
- Downtime Slashing: 100% refund of slashed tokens (typically 0.01%-0.1% penalties)
- Double Signing Slashing: 100% refund up to $5,000 USD per incident, 50% coverage above that amount
- Annual Coverage Limit: Maximum total compensation of $20,000 USD per calendar year across all networks
- Eligibility: Only delegations active for 30+ days prior to slashing event
Exclusions:
- Slashing due to network-wide issues or protocol bugs
- Loss due to token price fluctuations
- Slashing events during network emergency upgrades with less than 24-hour notice
- Force majeure events as defined in Section 15
14.3 Validator Commission & Rewards
Commission Rates:
Network | Current Commission | Max Commission | Commission Change Notice |
---|---|---|---|
Story | 10% | 20% | 7 days |
Kava | 5% | 10% | 7 days |
Zeta Chain | 5% | 15% | 7 days |
Band Protocol | 5% | 10% | 7 days |
Persistence | 5% | 10% | 7 days |
Rewards Distribution:
- Rewards are distributed according to each blockchain's native protocol
- Distribution frequency varies by network (typically every block or epoch)
- Delegators receive rewards minus the validator commission
- Some networks support auto-compounding; others require manual claiming

J•Node commits to maintaining high-performance validator operations:
- Uptime Target: 99.9% uptime measured over 30-day rolling periods
- Monitoring: 24/7 automated monitoring with human oversight

- Upgrades: Network upgrades completed within 24 hours of official release
- Double-Sign Prevention: Hardware security modules (HSM) and redundancy protocols

- Delegation Rights: Delegators retain their governance voting rights
- Transparency: Our voting decisions are public and explained in our Discord
- No Vote Override: We never override delegator votes
14.6 Risk Disclosures
Delegators must understand and accept the following risks:
- Slashing Risk: Despite our protection policy, slashing can result in permanent token loss
- Market Risk: Token values can fluctuate significantly
- Liquidity Risk: Tokens are locked during unbonding periods
- Technical Risk: Blockchain protocols may have undiscovered vulnerabilities
- Regulatory Risk: Staking regulations may change in your jurisdiction
